SEL_SDL_240.JPGAs the Holidays gain momentum, Walt Disney World is also gearing up by holding special events. Visiting Walt Disney World during the holidays is a wonderful way to take a vacation without straying too far from home. We’ve put together a list of some holiday events you and your family can enjoy this Christmas season.

Holidays Around the World – Candlelight Processional

This event is held nightly at the American Gardens Theatre in Epcot theme park and retells the Christmas story. Each night features a different narrator accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and a mass choir. This event is popular and fills up quickly each night. Many guests choose to participate in a Candlelight Dinner Package, which includes a dinner, a guaranteed seating section for the Candlelight Processional and a pre-arranged fireworks viewing. Interested guests can call 407-939-3463 for reservations.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Featured on the Streets of America at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, this seasonal display features millions of sparkling lights synchronized to holiday-themed music. The magnitude of the lights is breathtaking as complete buildings are enveloped by the glimmering display of multi-colored lights. The lights dim every 10 minutes before springing to life and often ending in a flurry of snow. This magnificent lights display is included with standard admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. The show runs through January 4, 2010.

Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade

This parade mixes festive music, colorful creatures and holiday cheer in a joyous celebration, winding through Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Mickey leads the parade with his Disney Character friends and larger-than-life animal puppets that celebrate and include standers-by in the fun. This parade runs through January 3, 2010.

Festival of the Seasons

This eclectic festival features a blend of Latin, Jazz and Pop performances in addition to carolers performing popular holiday songs. Children can watch street performers as well as Reindeer and Toy Soldier Stiltwalkers or share their gift list with Santa. Parents can shop at one of several novelty shops, including World of Disney and Once Upon a Toy. Finally, patrons can enjoy delicious dining, sweets and treats before taking a photo with old St. Nick. The Festival of the Seasons runs from November 27 through December 24 from noon until 10 p.m.

Have you attend one of these events before, or do you plan on attending one of Walt Disney World’s magical holiday events this year with your family? Which is your favorite?
