RinglingLiving in Wesley Chapel is perfect for summer fun get aways. There is so much to pick from, and with Sarasota being only an hour away, day trips are the perfect way to spend the afternoon. The John & Mable Ringling Museum is perfect for the whole family!

The Ringling Museum has more than enough to keep you busy all day. John Ringling had the Museum of Art built to house his own personal art collection and is now open to the public. Paintings and sculptures by some of the most famous artists of all time are on display here.

Special exhibitions are also always coming and going. Currently the museum holds: 20th Century Abstract Art from the Ringling Collection, Crosscurrents of Design: Asian Export Ceramics, the Art of Jade, Beyond Bling: Voices of Hip-Hop in Art, and Deco Japan: Shaping Modern Culture, 1920-1945.

The Ca’ d’Zan Mansion is also a must see here. This was the Ringlings’ dazzling palatial mansion which was a tribute to the American Dream. The mansion has 56 unbelievable rooms filled with art and original furnishings. Covering approximately 36,000 square feet, this mansion is something you will not want to pass up.

According to one Yelp user, “You know how certain places are so full of history and beauty, that they are mesmerizing? The grounds that house Ca d”zan and the Ringling Museum are magical- transformative, even. Of course, I came initially to see the circus relics as I have always found this sort of lifestyle and entertainment fascinating. I was blown away by this ‘museum’ actually being, like, eight different parts. I left with so much more information about Ringling- his family and wife, the circus itself and its performers and animals- than I knew going in- and that is what a good museum does: entertains and enlightens.”

And don’t forget about the Circus Museums! The Circus Museum celebrates the American circus, its history, and unique relationship to Sarasota. Here you will see colossal parade and baggage wagons, sequined costumes, and a slideshow banner line, showing the circus of the past and present. The Tibbals Learning Center also has an exhibition of circus posters to view.

The grounds and gardens of the Ringling Mansion are stunning as well. There is truly beauty everywhere you look. The grounds and gardens are treated as works of art, just like the pieces inside of the buildings. Outdoor attractions include the Rose Garden, Mable’s Secret Garden, the Dwarf Garden, Millennium Tree Trail and more all by the bay.

Take the whole family to Sarasota’s Ringling Museum and learn the art of the American Circus and enjoy other art forms as well.
