The WaterGrass Club design concept is complete, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out when we open in May. We worked with Masterpiece Design Group out of Winter Park, Florida under the guidance of lead designer Marlene Steinfeld. To get a feel for what to expect, we interviewed Barbara Kininmonth, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Crown Community Development, who worked closely with the designer in the decision-making process.

StoolWhat was the basis of your inspiration for the interior design?
The WaterGrass Club was designed to be timeless, yet fresh. The concept is based upon the positive/negative design tension—each element has an opposite. For example, there are large oversized creamy porcelain toned tile juxtaposed with dark espresso finish kitchen cabinetry office furniture and the built-in custom media bookcase.

Which accent pieces do you find most interesting?
The main sitting room has lush custom upholstered ultra suede fabrics in rich tones of apple green and platinum. This contrasts with sleek light leather in the bar stools and game table chairs. TableOther examples of this contrast include shiny stainless steel finishes in the kitchen appliances and the nickel-plated coffee table and console contrasted with the rich espresso wood finishes of other pieces.

AreaRugTell us more about the paint colors. How did you choose the palette? What makes the colors work together so well?
Paint colors are balanced as well—main paint colors of rich cream and the trim in a high gloss white are contrasted with medium blues and greens as accents.

What are some standout/special features?
The main social gathering room is anchored by an exquisite area rug featuring LightFixturethe main colors, platinum, medium blue, and apple green. In addition, throughout the Club the finishing details are exquisite and appeal to a broad range of ages and tastes.

What is your favorite aspect of the WaterGrass Club interior decor?
My favorite is definitely the light fixtures. They are stylish and unique, with polished chrome finishes accented with glass.

Do you have any decorating tips for those looking to enhance their home?
If you invest in quality with timeless lines, your decor will last a very long time. To achieve that designer look in your home, always use high quality, large, well framed artwork. And finish off your look with the “less is more” concept, choosing a few large beautiful, well selected accessories.
